FNAU is involved into European networks through the agencies of the network and through its own activities.
- Many agencies have developed a technical cooperation with European bodies, universities and research departments working into the field of urban planning, development and management.
- Programs such as Interreg, Urbact or The Urban Forum have offered many opportunities to involve themselves within various city networks.
- In the recent years, the agencies working over border zones (Strasbourg, Lille, Bayonne, etc.) have also developed several "Eurodistricts projects" with help from EU and from the French interministerial French Government "cross-border operational organisation" (MOT).
